The Old House project was an exploration in blending historical architecture with modern design. The clients, a local developer-builder, requested a modern take on Dutch Gable architecture—a style rooted in early American farmhouses. We took inspiration from the historic masonry hearth, a central organizing element in traditional homes, and explored how modern design principles could evolve this feature.
Our design maintained the iconic Dutch gable stonework but reinterpreted it with contemporary materials and techniques. The house incorporates clean lines, expansive windows, and an open floor plan, creating a seamless blend of old-world charm and modern convenience. The result was a striking balance between traditional architecture and cutting-edge design.
ZTC Architecture thrives on creating custom homes that honor historical influences while meeting the needs of today’s homeowners. The Old House project is a prime example of our ability to merge past and present seamlessly.
